The next meeting of the Community Living Coalition has been postponed until the new year.  It was difficult to find a location for the meeting and the co-chairs felt  the agenda topic was too important for a meeting at a time and place that  may be poorly attended

Discussion will be only about the future role of the Community Living Coalition:

Should the CLC continue in its present form - or continue at all?

Some  people (families , individuals  or service providers) believe that the purpose has been completed - CLBC exists, independent planning is coming, family members and self-advocates are on the board of directors, and individualized funding will be available soon.

Some  people  express comfort in the CLBC management team - they are people who are trusted in the community.

 Principles being sought when the coalition was created were:
        1.      Self Advocates and Families must have a leadership role in community living services
        2.      Independent Planning
        3.      Individualized Funding as an option for Individuals and Families.

But, some  people  say that each of these principles - although now promised or present in some form - still need work to make them active and effective.

Should the CLC continue in its present form until the transformation process is over?

Should the CLC continue instead as a communication forum for families, caregivers and service providers to discuss current news, events etc.? Or can this be done better by the CLBC's communication arm?

Should the CLC continue instead as a "Watch Dog" for Community Living BC? A forum where concerns can be aired?
Everyone who has an interest in the Coalition is invited to attend.   We will be making every effort to contact people who do not have access to email however you can help by passing this message along to anyone who you think may be interested. 
If you cannot attend the meeting, but you have an opinion about the future of the CLC,  please send your ideas and suggestions to Carol Stinson (co-chair) so they can be included in the discussion.
