August 8, 2002

1. Meeting was called to order at 7:09 pm

2. Co-Chairs were Doug Woollard and Ron Whittaker

3. Introductions were made around the room. (approximately 37 people in attendance)

4. Chairs of TSC working groups gave updates on the progress of their committees

bulletGovernance: Laney Bryenton reviewed the legislative process of creating the authority, the progress to date with appointing an interim CEO, and the many complexities in ensuring ongoing accountability of the Ministry to the Authority.
bulletIF: Tim Stainton discussed the proposed model for IF in the new authority.  IF will be an additional option for families, in addition to existing service & funding options.
bulletAccountability: Jane Donegani-Short reviewed her committee's progress in developing recommendations for accountability in the new governance structure.
bulletChildren and Family supports: Cathy Anthony discussed the challenges with children's services in determining how to provide seamless support to families when services will be in two authorities.
bulletFinance & HR: Doug Woollard reviewed their progress to date with determining assets that should be assigned to community living and outlined the complexities of the labour relations issues in hiring staff for the new authority.
bulletCommunications Advisory Group: Ron Whittaker reviewed the bulletins that have been developed, explained about community presentations being given by Linda Perry, the website at www.cltsc.bc.ca and the need for feedback from families.  Mailouts of info are also in process.

5. Woodlands Administrative Review: Gregg Schiller discussed the administrative review of Woodlands and an upcoming retreat for former residents of Woodlands, scheduled for August 26, 27, 2002 in Abbotsford.

6. Next Meeting: Scheduled for August 23, 2002- BAMH - postponed to August 29, 2002 at Accent Inn, 3777 Henning Drive, Burnaby.
